Telstra – the largest mobile operator in Australia – announced that it is preparing to launch two new HTC smartphones based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread — the HTC Desire S and the HTC Wildfire S. According to the Australian press, on May 25 Telstra will hold a special event to introduce these devices.
At the moment, the unlocked version of the Desire S is already sold in Australia by Mobicity. The price of the device is $499 (let me remind you that when the smartphone was launched it cost $699). Now it is expected that Telstra will distribute the Desire S and the Wildfire S for free, but with a two-year service contract.

The HTC Wildfire S has a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen, a 600MHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi (B/G/N), Bluetooth 3.0 and a memory card slot.
